The EU’s decision to grant candidate status to Serbia will greatly improve the country’s desirability for foreign investors, agreed the panel at this timely debate taking place just a few days before EU foreign affairs ministers granted Serbia official candidate status.

Serbia’s EU candidacy will serve as a motor for stable economic growth, predicted Dušan Petrović, Serbia’s Minister for Agriculture and Trade, adding that “political stability is the basis for a strong economic future. We are now ready for this future.”

The debate was followed by a concert by the twice-awarded Palme d'Or director Emir Kusturica who performed with his band The No Smoking Orchestra.
